From China to San Diego: Giant Pandas return to the Zoo!

For over 30 years, the San Diego Zoo has worked alongside conservation partners in China to protect giant pandas and ensure the survival of both the species and the bamboo forests they depend on. As a keystone species, giant pandas are inherently connected to the health of their delicately balanced ecosystems, playing a crucial role in maintaining the biodiversity of the regions they inhabit.

The San Diego Zoo is proud to have pandas back and continue their conservation and education legacy with these beloved animals.

You can now visit the Panda Ridge in the San Diego Zoo, home to two beloved giant pandas: Xin Bao, a female panda, and Yun Chuan, a male panda, both born at the San Diego Zoo. To visit Panda Ridge, you'll need to secure a complimentary timed ticket, which you can obtain on the same day as your zoo visit. Simply scan the QR code on your ticket or request one at the Tour and Memberships booth inside the zoo. These timed tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you don’t have a timed ticket, you can still join the standby line, though access is not guaranteed. For a more exclusive experience, the zoo offers a 60-minute Early Morning tour for an additional fee, where an expert guide will lead you to private viewings of the giant pandas, allowing for an intimate encounter with these magnificent creatures before the zoo opens to the general public. You can now access major discounts in many San Diego parks and attractions with our CBX Travel Club membership, get yours now!

The return of the giant pandas to the San Diego Zoo not only symbolizes the success of these conservation efforts but also reinforces the shared commitment to preserving the planet we all share.
